Pipe Fittings| Purpose, Types & Specifications

Every Industry and Power Plants requires Plumbing Systems to maintain the flow of Fluid flow from one place to another. For this Purpose, Pipe Fittings are used.  Pipe Fittings are highly demanded and are an essential part of the piping and plumbing system. Pipe Fittings comes in various Shapes and Size. Every Component of Pipe Fittings is Different so, Pipe Fittings are installed According to its Type.

What Do you Mean by Pipe Fittings?

In Simple Words, Pipe Fittings can be termed as a Work Process which involves the installation of Pipes and Tubes.  Pipe Fittings are installed to change the direction of a Flow coming through a Piping Component. Different Methods and Techniques are used by Pipefitters while installing a pipe and tubes.

Basic Purpose of any Pipe Fittings:

·         Connecting Pipe Sections
·         Changes the Direction of Flow of Liquid
·         Helps in Connecting two or More pipes or Tubes
·         Helps in Maintaining and Reducing the Flow.
·         Pipe Fittings Help in Connecting a Pipe to Different other Components.

Types of Pipe Fittings:

Many a times, Clients are confused about what type of Pipe fittings should they use for a particular Piping System as there are Different types of Pipe Fittings used for installing Piping Component. Every Component of Pipe Fittings has its own Uses. A pipefitter has to use his skills in order to choose the best means for Attaching the pipes because all the Component of pipes and tubes can’t be joined in a same manner. So here will be looking at some of the Types of Pipe Fittings which are used for a variety of Purpose as per their needs and Requirements.

Elbows: As the name suggests, Elbow Pipe Fittings is used to change the direction of Flow between Two Joined Pipes. A Combination of Different materials are used for Making an Elbows. Elbows are in High Demand in Plumbing. The Flow coming from an Elbows can be in Liquid, gas or from other Materials. Elbows are available in 45°, 90°. The 45 Degree Elbow is used in Industrial Pipelines, Solar-Energy Plants, Agriculture etc. and Many more, whereas the 90 Degree Elbows is used to Water Pumps, Valves and Deck Drains.

Available in:   Stainless Steel, ABS Plastic, Copper, Brass, Duplex Steel, Aluminum

Couplings:  Another Type of Fittings used is the Couplings. A Couplings is a Pipe fitting which is used to stop leakages in Damaged or Broken Pipes. To Connect Couplings to the Pipes, the Diameter of the Pipes should be the Same. Couplings are arranged between two pipes to Prevent Further Leakages and is fixed with Rubber Seals or Gaskets on Both Sides.

Available in: Copper, Brass, PVC, Stainless Steel
